Three things people get wrong about slipping
"It's only old age."
Age weakens legs, but it's the smooth floor that lets them slide. Grip gives weaker legs something to push against.
"Dogs won't keep socks on."
Dogs kick off socks that slide down or twist. A proper fit, a cuff that holds and an adjustable strap make the difference.

Rugs only help where the rug is. Your dog still has to cross the gaps between them.
